FAUNA IN CENTRAL KALIMANTAN

Central Kalimantan has many various fauna like mammals, reptiles and amphibians. One of fauna’s mammal in Central Kalimantan is Red Luntung

( Presbytis rubicunda ). You can see Red Luntung in the forest of Central Kalimantan. Red Luntung is a protected species that have been increasingly reduced its population. Red Luntung is one-tailed primates and animals that are protected in Indonesia. This species has a long tail and reddish hair with blue face. One group of Red Luntungs is usually 8 with 1 adult male. Their food is mainly young leaves and seeds. You can not see them very often because many people to catch them for sell except you are lucky to see them. But you have to careful if you see them because they will take your things if you are too close to them, you can only watch them from far away.

The second mammal of Central Kalimantan is Orangutan. Orangutan is almost extinct like Red Luntung because many people catch them for sell. But now government have already saved some of Orangutan in Central Kalimantan. Orangutans also become extinct because of people that burn their habitat so they don’t have a place for live and lost their family. If you want to see orangutan you can come to the wildlife in Central Kalimantan like Arboretum.
